This study investigates the relationship between the Prophet’s companion, Salman Al-Farsi (Al-Muhammady) and Mahdism by looking into a group of related traditions.
This research, first, proposes an abridged introduction to Imam Al-Mahdi (P.B.U.H), Mahdism, and then to Salman Al-Muhammady.
As for the goals of this study, they are:
First: investigating the longevity of Salman, and the relationship of this figure with Imam Al-Mahdi (P.B.U.H). Moreover, the research will mention some of the prophets who have been gifted with similar longevity.
Second: encountering the resurrection of Salman and his coming back with Imam Al-Mahdi (P.B.U.H).
Third: studying the traditions narrated from the Prophet and Imam Ali, by means of Salman about Imam Al-Mahdi (P.B.U.H). They are nineteen traditions.
Finally, in the conclusion, this research strives to prove the longevity of Salman, who aged more than 150 years, and that he will return with Imam Al-Mahdi (P.B.U.H). Moreover, he is believed to be higher in position than Imam Al-Mahdi’s 313 companions. This research is an entry for further reading about other Major Islamic characters and their association with Mahdism.
