Supplication is among the rituals to which our religion has allotted a respectable amount of attention. In this regard, Allah stated: “And say, O Muhammad, that my Lord pays attention to you only because of your invocation to Him” (Al-Furqan: 77). The Almighty Allah also stated: “And your Lord said: invoke Me and ask Me for everything, I will respond to your invocation. Verily, those who scorn My worship, they will surely enter Hell in humiliation” (Ghafer: 60). There is, also, a great heritage of traditions that invokes believers to pray to God, like: “Supplication is the essence of worship”.
This tremendous divine concern about this ritual discloses its significant role in one’s belief.
This study investigates the importance of supplication and its effect on individual’s life. It also leaves a great impact on one’s belief and his relationship with God. The study also proposes certain answers to a set of questionings.
The study also clarifies the role of supplication in forming one’s monotheism, and the impossibility of gaining ultimate monotheistic understanding without honest supplication and humiliation in the presence of God.
Finally, this research presents a model for this type of honest prayers, that of Mahdist supplications. It also encounters the necessity of designating the Imam as a mediator in our prayers to God, since he is our leader and the only connection line between people and the heaven.
